TASMANIJOS ARBORETUMAS
Tasmanijos arboretumas įsikūrė šiaurinėje Tasmanijos dalyje netoli Cradle kalnų regiono. Čia jau daug metų kaupiami, saugomi ir rodomi visuomenei ne tik reliktiniai, ypatingi ir reti Tasmanijos augalai, bet ir kituose Pietų pusrutulio regionuose paplitę Gondvanos augalai. Vienas iš svarbiausių Tasmanijos arboretumo tikslų yra saugoti nykstančias ir retas medžių rūšis, dalyvauti moksliniuose tyrimuose, šviesti visuomenę ir specialistus apie šios veiklos svarbą ir rezultatus.
Vilniaus universiteto (VU) botanikos sodas aktyviai dalyvauja tarptautinės bendruomenės „Botanic Gardens Conservation International” (BGCI) veiklose. VU botanikos sodo bendradarbiavimą su Tasmanijos arboretumu paskatino kvietimas dalyvauti BGCI ir ArbNet partnerystės programoje. Programa skatina šių organizacijų narius keistis žiniomis, gerąja patirtimi ir resursais siekiant saugoti bioįvairovę ir paveldą, dalyvauti moksliniuose tyrimuose, kaupti informaciją apie nykstančias rūšis ir bendradarbiauti formuojant kolekcijas, šviesti visuomenę apie šių veiklų svarbą.
Paroda „Tasmanija. Ieškant Gondvanos” yra vienas iš VU Botanikos sodo specialistų dr. Dariaus Ryliškio ir Aidos V. Dobkevičiūtės ekspedicijos į Tasmanijos arboretumą rezultatų. Parodos tema pasirinkta ne atsitiktinai. Reliktiniai Gondvanos laikotarpio augalai, kurių ne vieną rūšį galima aptikti Tasmanijos miškuose, aukštikalnėse ir savanose, domina ne tik mokslininkus. Šie augalai yra įdomus visuomenei, nes yra raktas pažinti žemynų ir jų bioįvairovės formavimosi periodus bei etapus.
TASMANIAN ARBORETUM
Tasmanian Arboretum is located in the northern part of Tasmania near the Cradle Mountain region. For many years not only for relict, special and rare Tasmanian plants have been collected, cared and displayed to the public, but as well other Gondwana plants common it other parts of the Southern Hemisphere. One of the most important goals of the Tasmanian Arboretum is to secure an endangered variety of trees, to participate in research, to educate the public and professionals about the importance and results of arboretum activities.
Vilnius University (VU) Botanical Garden participates in the activities of the international community Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI). The cooperation of the VU Botanical Garden with the Tasmanian Arboretum was led by the invitation to participate in the BGCI and ArbNet partnership program, which encourages the members of these organizations to exchange knowledge, best practices and resources regarding the protection and preservation of biodiversity and heritage, to participate in research, to collect information on endangered plants and collaborate on collections, to educate the public and professionals.
Exhibition “Tasmania. Searching for Gondwana” is a result of the expedition of Vilnius University Botanical Garden specialists dr. Darius Ryliškis and Aida V. Dobkevičiūtė to the Tasmanian Arboretum. The theme of the exhibition is chosen deliberately. The relicts of Gondwana-era plants founded in Tasmanian woods, highlands and savannas are interesting to scientists and as well to the public. These plants can be the main key for learning about periods and stages of biodiversity formation in the world’s continents.
